At Our Place August,2009
Well it has been a long time since we put up any current news. No excuses, just having fun travelling and visiting some old friends.
We had a lovely time catching up with some friends down on the south coast. Quite a change for us with the water nearby. We went out on a friends boat up the river and had a nice picnic. Coming back, we found a boat in trouble, who needed a tow. Now that meant that we had to go back to where we had come from and it was slow going as we towed the bigger boat. I was not too impressed seeing the water on my side of the boat was only about 3 inches from the top of the side. Anyway, we redistributed the weight and my side came up a bit. As I nearly drowned once and had the water pumped out of me, I have not been that keen on going under the water again! I nearly panicked when they suggested a boat trip but they assured me it was only going to be for a couple of hours. Right! We started out at 10 a.m. and got back about 5 p.m. However, I must say except for the nearness of the water when towing the other boat, I really enjoyed it.
Vic had his 75th birthday in May and lots of friends and family came to help celebrate. Even though the kitchen was not finished, we managed to have three tables together and seat everyone. Housing an extra 20 people overnight was a challenge as being wintertime, we needed to have them all in the house. The fire was roaring and everyone was busy catching up with each other. Me, well I was pretty exhausted by the end of the day after cooking all the week before. That is the good thing about winter parties though, you can make lots of casserole type dishes well beforehand. So after all the meal was out, I just sat and relaxed with some wine. All the younger ones pitched in and did the washing and wiping up.
We have had some rain and the grass looks lovely and green but another drop now would really set up the spring growth.
The wattle and the chooks seem to think it is spring as the wattle is flowering and the chooks have started laying eggs again!
