AT HOME WITH US IN JANUARY, 2007

Well as you can see we went back to the other colour scheme we originally started with.  Thats because a change is as good as a holiday.

We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and that this year brings you all you wish for.

Our Christmas was fantastic.  It started off with going to see our grandchildren's Pre-School Concert.  Their mother Jen was suffering from a sore back, so they all came back to our place until she recovered, as Roy was away for the week and she had no help lifting the littlest one of 18 months.  Vic managed to get the flu either from the Pre-School or from the children.  He just recovered for the Christmas Party.

The Christmas Party is held at our place each year.  As our street stretches over 16km's and the people behind it are also invited I guess you could say it was 30+km.  That sounds a lot but when you realise that there are only a few families it isn't that daunting.  This year we could hold it at anytime as there was no harvesting in this area due to the drought.  However, at least for one night, we could all relax and not worry about the weather, lack of water, lack of income and the feelings of being isolated.  It is always important especially in these times that we try and keep each other going.  At the moment there are a lot of suicides in rural families.

Next Craig arrived with Kerri who he has known since school. She is sweet, and is like one of our own. Vic went down with a relapse of the flu.  Vic was just too sick to manage Christmas dinner, so we left him at home in peace to rest with plenty of fluids.  When we arrived home, he looked a lot better and has since been improving.  Christmas day was great as the children were over excited about "Santa" arriving and bringing them their presents.  We ate too much of course and played with the children with their toys afterwards.

Craig and myself left before we had to dodge kangaroos on the way home.  As going down our road, you drive into the setting sun, the kangaroos are hard to see.

So as you can see, all in all, it was a very pleasant time.  The New Year we welcomed in by staying at home, having a nice dinner and watching the fireworks at midnight on the television.  There were a few functions we could have gone to but after the above,  driving Craig back to Sydney  (1400 kms round trip) ready for his return flight, we felt to stay put would be nice.  Also after the flu, Vic wasn't up to going out really anyway.  We have found that the New Year arrives whether we are up or not!

Anyway, hope your holidays were as satisfying as ours.

Until next time.
