Whats Happening At Our Place - Oct. 08

Since last time, we have decided to reward ourselves and have a holiday.  As my sister was having a birthday, we decided to pack up and go over to Western Australia again.  This time, we have taken the cat Tarsha and Bubblegum the galah.

We couldn't believe that our native bird needed a permit to enter another state.  Hey they fly across the border all the time but she had to have a permit.  Budgies (which are native) cockatiels canaries and cats and dogs can come and go all they want but the bigger parrots can't.  I think it is because the powers that be think you are going to catch them and try to import them into the state.  Right....and they would sit that quietly on the back seat saying "Hello".

Travelling with a cat and a galah has had its problems.  Firstly only camping grounds are prepared to give you any space.  Although they slept in the car, you do need to be able to go out and check them and you don't want to have to walk a mile just to do that!  Secondly, the cat thought that we were trying to dump her out on the Never Never when we took her on her cat walking jacket out to spend a penny.  She didn't want to use her own cat litter box, so we thought, well we will take her to dig a hole.  Apart from one time when she must have been busting, Vic and myself spent a lot of time walking through the bush.  Obviously all bushes and spots are just not suitable!!!

However, they both travelled very well.  Bubblegum was an opportunist.  Everytime we stopped, she hoed into her seed and water.  Whereas Tarsha only ate her evening meal and thought that the bottled water we carried was definitely for the birds (pun intended).  However, some milk was considered a pretty thoughtful dish.

At the border of Western Australia, they confiscated all of Bubblegum's seed (we had only bought a small jar knowing that).  However, they gave her the Western Australian mix which is very, very, very high in sunflower seeds.  She at first thought it was pretty yuk until she found the striped sunflower seeds.

We have been on the go with family functions since arriving.  We arrived the day before my birthday, so first there was a surprise party for me, which was lovely and then my sisters.  We have been out every day, so I am catching up today with some things.

Until next time.

Kind regards,

Vic & Rose
