Whats Happening At Our Place October,2009
We have had a very long dry spell again. Once again, we have run out of water. The garden is looking very sparse to say the least. Although, we have tried to keep some of the plants alive, some just have no heart and have given up the ghost.
We have increased the number of cattle we agist by about 30 head. How long we can run 120 head we are not sure, but it will give us a much better animal impact on the paddocks as well as extra manure.
Today, we have finally got some rain. Good heavy rain last night and today it is falling steadily. Very windy and cold as well. After having days in the mid 30's this is quite a culture shock.
Vic has been busy fencing and trying to cut the paddocks down, so we can conserve grass. He is also doing some of the equestrian centre fencing as well. He really needs to be at least two men!
I have been doing some leadlight for the windows in the house. We must get back to the renovations but there is just so much to do.
Tarsha the cat has had some trouble with one of her eyes as it has been so dusty. She was just so funny today. Because it was going to rain, big meat ants were getting into her dried food and of course she didn't want to eat it. So I put some kibble in a little pyrex dish I take the chooks grain out in. I did this so it could sit in some water and keep it ant free! She refused to eat out of the chooks bowl (yes it was washed!) and would just stand looking at the kibble. This went on all day yesterday. Finally today Vic poured it out of the chooks bowl and into her bowl seeing the ants have disappeared. She went straight to her bowl and ate it all up. Talk about fussy!
Anyway until next time
